Snickerdoodle Cookies:
Time: About 50 minutes     Yield: Makes 24 Cookies

Ingredients:

  1. ¼ cup softened butter
  2. ¼ cup shortening
  3. ¾ cup white sugar
  4. 1 egg
  5. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  6. 1 teaspoon cream of tartar (can substitute with 2 teaspoons of lemon juice or vinegar)
  7. ½ teaspoon baking soda
  8. Pinch of salt
  9. 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  10. 1 tablespoon sugar
  11. 1 ⅓ cup all-purpose flour

Appliances:

  1. Measuring spoons
  2. Electric mixer/ Kitchen aid
  3. 1 spoon
  4. Baking cookie pan
  5. Baking spatula
  6. Ziplock
  7. Oven gloves

Steps:

  1. Preheat the oven to 400℉
  2. In a large bowl, cream together butter, shortening, ¾ cup sugar, egg, and vanilla.
  3. Blend in flour, cream of tartar, soda, and salt into the same bowl.
  4. Mix thoroughly.
  5. Take a ziplock and put the tablespoon of sugar and teaspoon of cinnamon in it. Close the ziplock and mix until combined.
  6. Take a small spoonful of dough and shape into balls.
  7. Open the ziplock, take the ball of dough and put it in the ziplock and gently shake so that the cinnamon and sugar stick all around the ball of dough
  8. Repeat step 6-7 till the dough is finished.
  9. Butter a baking pan, and lay out the balls on the pan. You might have to do it in two batches.
  10. Bake the cookie dough at 400℉ for 8-11 minutes.
  11. Immediately shift cookies to a plate and let cool. Enjoy!
